Being on lockdown has certainly been an experience. It’s unlike anything any of us would have faced before, and it’s come with all kinds of challenges, as well as some good times too.

When all of this is over, it will be weird to look back at what was a crazy time in our lives – something many of us will never want to see repeated. There are all kinds of lessons to learn from this time – some good, some not-so-good – but one thing that’s for sure is that we’ll be stronger from it.

What have we learned so far during lockdown? Here are just some of the takeaways.

Homeschooling is hard

After lockdown is over, you’ll have all kinds of sympathy for your kids’ teachers! Homeschooling your kids is hard! When they’re in their home environment, all they want to do is play, and seemingly distract you from working from home. It’s really difficult to get into a routine, but many parents are in the same boat. Try some lessons learned about homeschooling during lockdown to help you make it through.

While we homeschool regularly around here, doing it on lockdown does present our own unique challenges.

You miss your favorite treats

Going out for your favorite coffee and cake or picking up a sandwich from the deli were regular treats pre-lockdown. But now, they seem even more special now that you can’t have them every day. It’s funny the things that you miss, but it’s a good idea to write down everything you want to do when restrictions are lifted. For now, why not order some sweet treats from Eastern Standard Provisions to cheer up your lockdown? Many local businesses are still delivering too, so take a look and see if your favorites can come to your door?

Family and friends are more important than you realize

Not being able to see family and friends is one of the toughest parts of this crisis. Being able to see and speak to them over the phone helps, but nothing beats a hug and a kiss from the real thing. Try to keep in touch with your loved ones as much as you can, and vow to see them in person more when you can. Life is too short not to spend it with the people you love.

You’re a whizz around the home

Lockdown has unleashed all kinds of home gurus, becoming experts in everything from DIY to various baking recipes. It’s good to fill up your time with a mix of both worthwhile and fun activities – helping you ride out this storm while still finding new and fresh things to do.

Lockdown has been a hard time for everyone, but it will pass eventually. Finding balance during an uncertain time will help you stay on track and ensure that you make the most of a difficult situation. No matter how you’re filling your time, you can be sure that there are some key lessons here you’ll be taking with you long after this is over.
