Hurricanes and other natural disasters can have a devastating impact on those who are affected by them.  Every year, many people find themselves dealing with the aftermath of a hurricane. Statistics show that around 25,000 homes are destroyed by hurricanes every year and hurricane winds damage over 100,000 more. These damages can cause a ludicrous amount in repairs for property owners who find their homes damaged or destroyed by natural phenomena.

As a hurricane comes through, its forces beat down on residential and commercial buildings. Property can also be affected by the powerful winds it produces, and finally, owners also have to contend with flooding. In total, these forces cause property owners thousands upon thousands of dollars in repair costs. They also cost insurance companies millions each year in hurricane, flooding, and home repair claims.

However, there are many things property owners can do to protect their homes, businesses and families during hurricane season. Although insurance pays large sums to families whom hurricanes have affected during the season, it is important you have insurance that can cover any damages that might occur.  Furthermore, reaching out to local companies that offer aid to those home and commercial owners who find their homes and businesses heavily affected by the hurricane is another great way of dealing with the season. As for homeowners, there is a lot you can do to protect yourself also. If you want to learn how to fortify your home against hurricanes, you can learn more through the infographic below:
