Coming to you from the trenches of motherhood! We are 3 women who try to impersonate being amazing Pinterest perfect adulting moms but fall comfortably short. We own our crazy and were blessed enough to find each other. Our impressive friendship came from our children’s common interests. They were performing in shows together at our local community theater while we were tailgating in the parking lot with our bundles of nerves. Our kids perform in theater. Lots and lots of theater. We exemplify the phrase “I can’t. My kid’s got rehearsal.” They take dance, they play sports, and perform in a multitude of shows, film, and tv. We quickly realized our own commonalities. We never have it all together and regularly operate with only half of a functioning brain!
Christina Sawyer was born in New Jersey but moved to Florida when she was 2 years old. She went to college at the University of Central Florida where she received a BS in Education. She paid her way as an aerial acrobat in live shows in Orlando. After teaching for a few years, it became clear performing was the life she wanted. She met her husband performing in a stunt show together! At some point, amidst the performing, she began having kids and eventually left the performing world. Now she works at home while homeschooling her 3 crazies and runs a crochet business. As an introverted extrovert, you might find her hiding in the corner of a busy room!
Nichole Silvestro is known as “Worst case scenario mom”, always making a mountain out of a mole-hill. She moved her family to a farm. though they know nothing about living on a farm. She has 3 kids that are all homeschooled. Two of those kids are vegetarian, and all 3 are pursuing dreams to be actors. More than likely you can find her in her car, chauffeuring her kids around to various activities, with coffee in hand.
Tonya Denmark grew up in Western Michigan but now lives with her husband and two teenagers in Central Florida. She certainly does not miss the snow! She also grew up performing and shares that with her daughter. Tonya still performs from time to time with her community theater. She has always loved traveling but it may actually be the planning of travel that she loves even more. She gets excited making out our calendars and researching what the family is going to do and see. It’s her mission to find the hidden gems in travel.
A few of her favorite things are 90s grunge, 80s movies, coffee, local breweries, theme parks, sandy beaches, Harry Potter books and movies, reading, and road trips.
Why Moms in the Trenches
We all have mom friends whose refrigerators are always stocked and organized, who’s laundry is never piled up, and whose kids always have their correct shoes on when they walk out the door. This is not us. What we do best is make lemons out of lemonade.
We homeschool together and usually, our lessons are all over the place. But we always make it work and the kids love them!
We plan freezer meal cooking nights and we spill, we miscalculate ingredients, we even change the meal because we messed something up…but we drink our wine and play our music and have a blast while still walking away with plenty of meals for the coming weeks.
We have busy schedules so it stands to reason we are going to forget things, but as deep into the trenches as we may get, our kids are always where they need to be, everyone is fed, and best of all, we turn worst-case scenarios into best case disasters!
