Our kitchens are one of the most important rooms in our entire home. It’s here that we create nourishing foods to sustain us, or perhaps do some entertaining. To make the best of your kitchen, it’s important to organize this room the best you can. To help you create the kitchen of your dreams, check out these five simple organizational tips.

1. Try these apps

First up, there are several apps which are super handy for organizing the home:

  • House Cleaning List: The House Cleaning List application makes it simple to create cleaning lists for each room. With 150+ cleaning task suggestions, you’ll get your kitchen looking spotless in no time.
  • Tody: Tody is one of the most popular cleaning and organizational apps. The app has plenty of great content to create a cleaning plan for your whole home. With a personalized daily chore list, your kitchen will soon be sparkling! Whether it’s areas to clean in the bedroom, or polishing tips for the bathroom, there are plenty of ways to use Tody.

2. Declutter & deep clean

If you want to get your kitchen looking amazing, you’ve got to declutter and deep clean. When you’re decluttering get rid of as many items as you can. It’s not about throwing away things you need, simply getting rid of items which you don’t use. With a little more free space, you’ll find that your kitchen environment is a more relaxing and functional space. Deep cleaning means getting into every tiny corner and scrubbing on top of every cupboard! For a few top green-cleaning products try JR Watkins or Grove Collaborative.

3. Categorise your kitchen items

Getting organized is about ensuring that everything has its place. Categorise your kitchen items into different groups; this will help you to create a tidier and more useful space. These groups might include cooking items, everyday utensils and plates, utensils and plates for special occasions, tupperware boxes, dry food, recipe books etc. When you have too many drawers of mismatched items, it’s difficult to find the items you need.

4. New food storage containers

Purchasing yourself new storage containers can help you to get things more organized. Purchase clear containers that are easy to stack; this way, you can quickly view the items inside and make the best use of space. If possible, choose storage containers made of eco-friendly or biodegradable materials. With the best storage containers, you’ll also improve the shelf life of your food. It’s always important to consider shelf-life in your kitchen, whether it’s how to store fresh bread, or how to keep your coffee grounds fresh.

5. Meal Planning

Planning your meals can help you to save time and save money. Planning meals can also help you to improve the use of space in your fridge and freezer. To help you out, try using the following meal planning apps:

Mealime: With the Mealime app, it’s super easy to plan your meals for the week. First, you type in your preferences, and then the app gives you the best meal suggestions for you. Preferences include favorite foods, dietary requirements, and how long you have to spend cooking.

PlateJoy: Platejoy is another excellent app to plan meals for you and your family. You can input weight loss goals or food preferences to find the right meals for you.
