All it takes is the slightest problem to make a new mom go crazy. You spot something on your baby, and you absolutely freak out. Your doctor gets called ten times a day, and they’re slowly starting to consider blocking your number! Having concern for your baby is totally normal, so don’t think that you’re overreacting at all. Nevertheless, it helps to know that many baby issues aren’t actually issues at all. Often, most of your concerns will sort themselves out as your baby grows. By all means, some problems do need to be addressed right away, but here are a few things you shouldn’t worry about:

Baby acne

Some babies are born with red marks or spots on their faces. This is called baby acne, but it’s nowhere near as bad as the real stuff that teenagers develop. Lots of things could cause it, but you really shouldn’t be overly concerned. The majority of the time, getting rid of baby acne is as simple as waiting for it to go away. It will naturally fade, though there are other things you can do if it still concerns you. The important thing is that this isn’t something to worry about as it is a temporary condition.

Crying

Nobody likes to hear a baby cry, but it honestly isn’t a bad thing at all. In reality, crying is totally normal and babies use it to communicate with you. Remember, your baby has only been alive for a few days or weeks or months. It won’t learn it’s first words for a while, and even then it will take time before it can talk to you. So, babies use crying to get your attention, usually telling you that they’re hungry, tired, restless, or need their diaper changed. Some babies cry more than others, so you really shouldn’t worry if yours cries a lot. Ultimately, you have to realize that babies do stop crying eventually, you just have to weather the storm.

Soft spots

Does your baby feel like it has really soft spots on its head? Naturally, you’re going to worry about this as you think your child has a gap in their skull. Well, you’re right – they do! However, this is perfectly normal and is known in the medical world as a fontanelle. Essentially, your baby isn’t born with a perfectly connected skull – for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it makes it easier for the child to move through the birth canal, and secondly, it allows the head and brain to grow quickly. Basically, soft spots on a baby’s head are absolutely natural and will fuse together as they grow and develop. Just be extra careful when handling them as they obviously don’t have the protection that a fully-formed skull provides.

Have you spotted any of these ‘issues’ in your baby? If so, you should now know that they’re nothing to worry about. Likewise, if you’re currently pregnant, it helps to learn about these things so you’re ready to expect them when the baby arrives. Of course, if you notice things and still feel concerned, you should call your doctor just to get everything checked.
